Azimuth-Resolved Circular Dichroism of Metamaterials

Shuliang Ren et al.

Summary: In this study, experimental investigations were conducted on the azimuth-dependent circular dichroism (CD) spectra of achiral metamaterials, which showed good agreement with simulation results. The origin of the CD was explained by the coupling of macroelectric dipole and magnetic dipole, providing a potential method for constructing on-chip azimuth sensors based on CD spectra of metamaterials.

Multi-mode circular dichroism in n-fold rotational symmetric metamaterials

Shihao Li et al.

Summary: This article investigates the effects of the rotation angle between upper and lower n-fold rotational symmetric nano-structures. Various modes of circular dichroism in the wavelength band from 3.3 to 5 mu m are achieved. The sensitivity of circular dichroism to the rotation angle and the reconfigure strategy for opposite responses are discussed. The physical mechanism of mode's switching is explained using the Born-Kuhn model.

Near-infrared chirality of plasmonic metasurfaces with gold rectangular holes

Biyuan Wu et al.

Summary: Chirality, as a fundamental property of nature, has potential applications in various fields. In this study, a novel plasmonic chiral metasurface with rectangular holes was systematically investigated, and it was found to exhibit strong circular dichroism in the near-infrared wavelength. The research also revealed the impact of the metasurface structure parameters and the rotation angle of the resonance units on circular dichroism. The chirality can be effectively regulated by changing the orientation of the units. Furthermore, simulations were conducted to reveal the underlying mechanism.

Guangyu Qi et al.

Summary: Carbon materials have great potential in producing microwave absorbers, with Fe3C@Fe/C composites obtained from wasted cornstalks showing excellent absorption capabilities. The credit for this lies in the impedance matching and attenuation properties of the composites, as well as the synergistic influence of dielectric and magnetic losses in the porous microstructure. A low-cost method using agricultural waste is proposed to reduce pollution caused by burning cornstalks.
