Corrosion processes of silver nanoparticles

Vicki J. Keast

Summary: In this study, the corrosion of silver nanoparticles exposed to air was investigated using scanning transmission electron microscope. It was found that the number and distribution of secondary particles increased with higher relative humidity. Energy-dispersive X-ray analysis confirmed the presence of silver and sulfur in the particles, and electron energy loss spectra identified the corrosion product as Ag2S.

Electromagnetic Field Gradient-Enhanced Raman Scattering in TERS Configurations

Lingyan Meng et al.

Summary: The study theoretically investigated the electric field gradient effect in the TERS system using the finite element method, quantitatively distinguishing the respective contributions of electric field and electric field gradient to dipole Raman and gradient Raman modes in the TERS spectrum. By comparing the relative intensity ratio between electric field gradient and electric field, the TERS configuration could be optimized to achieve a maximum of gradient Raman modes. Theoretical results reveal the influence of molecular symmetries on molecular hyperpolarizability, which significantly impacts the plasmonic electric field gradient effects, providing useful information for the design of TERS platforms with more spectrum information.

Plexciton and electron-phonon interaction in tip-enhanced resonance Raman scattering

Jialin Ma et al.

Summary: The investigation on tip-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (TERRS) reveals that plexciton enhances the intensity of resonance Raman scattering, while the interaction between plexciton and electron-phonon further strengthens the scattering effects in TERRS, reaching a significant enhancement level.

Plexcitons, electric field gradient and electron-phonon coupling in tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS)

Jialin Ma et al.

Summary: This article introduces the importance of Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (TERS) in nano-scale molecular analysis, as well as the research hot topic of Plexciton in plasma photonics. The characteristics, production methods, observation methods, and the impact of electric field gradient (EFG) and electron-phonon interaction on TERS resolution are discussed. Readers can gain a preliminary understanding of these aspects through this article.
