Optimization of Fe@Ag core-shell nanowires with improved impedance matching and microwave absorption properties

Ping-An Yang et al.

Summary: Fe@Ag core-shell nanowires with enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption were successfully synthesized, with different Ag shell thickness controlled by changing Fe to Ag molar ratio to improve impedance matching and attenuation constants. The Fe@Ag core-shell nanowires show promising high-efficiency microwave absorbing capabilities due to the complementary effect of the Fe-Ag interface polarization, impedance matching improvement, and small-scale effect caused by the one-dimensional structure.

Double-atom catalysts for energy-related electrocatalysis applications: a theoretical perspective

Donghai Wu et al.

Summary: Atomically dispersed metal catalysts have attracted intensive research attention due to their excellent activity, selectivity, and stability. Recently, double-atom catalyst (DAC) with a metal dimer anchored on a substrate has emerged as a research focus for energy-related electrocatalysis reactions. DACs offer more possibilities to adjust geometrical configurations and electronic structures due to the flexible dual-metal sites and the synergetic effect between the two metal atoms. This review summarizes the theoretical research on DACs for diverse energy-related electrocatalytic reactions and highlights how their outstanding attributes affect reaction pathways, catalytic activity, and product selectivity.

Quasi-planar B50 sheet as a potential molecular sensor for NO2: A DFT study

Xiyuan Sun et al.

Summary: The adsorption behaviors of NO, NO2, and NH3 molecules on quasi-planar B-50 sheet were studied using density functional theory (DFT), showing that these molecules can be significantly chemisorbed on the edge of the sheet. The potential application of quasi-planar B-50 sheet as a promising sensor for NO2 detection was suggested based on the responses of energy gaps to the adsorption of different gas molecules.

Adsorption of SF6 decomposition gases (H2S, SO2, SOF2 and SO2F2) on Sc-doped MoS2 surface: A DFT study

Baoliang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption behaviors of four typical SF6 decomposing gases on MoS2 and Sc-MoS2 surfaces were investigated using density functional theory. It was found that Sc-MoS2 has excellent adsorption properties for SO2, SOF2, and SO2F2, but weak adsorption for H2S. The introduction of Sc atom as the active center significantly enhanced the adsorption effect for target gases.

Excessive ammonia inhalation causes liver damage and dysfunction by altering gene networks associated with oxidative stress and immune function

Xiangyin Zeng et al.

Summary: This study found that excessive NH3 inhalation had effects on the transcriptional profiles and liver function in fattening pigs, leading to oxidative stress and immune dysfunction, which resulted in liver damage. The study not only provided a new perspective for assessing the toxicity of NH3, but also enriched the toxicological mechanism of NH3.
