Fall prevention education for older people being discharged from hospital: Educators' perspectives

Effectiveness of health consumer representative involvement in implementation of interventions to change health professional behaviour

Summary: This systematic review explores the impact of consumer involvement in changing healthcare professionals' behavior and practices, and identifies barriers to and enablers of consumer engagement in knowledge translation research. The results suggest that consumer involvement is beneficial in changing healthcare professionals' behavior, but often does not move beyond the design phase in knowledge translation interventions. Further research on the barriers and effects of increased consumer engagement in all stages of knowledge translation interventions is needed.

Improving hospital falls screening and mitigation using a health professional education framework

Summary: This study applied evidence-based approaches to education design to improve falls risk mitigation among health professionals. The educational workshop significantly changed participants' views and increased their confidence in assessing and implementing falls prevention strategies. A high-quality education program grounded in a rigorous quality framework improved health professionals' knowledge and promoted effective learning through evidence-based rationales for behavior change.
