Graphene-labeled synthetic antigen as a novel probe for enhancing sensitivity and simplicity in lateral flow immunoassay

Qiong Huang et al.

Summary: Lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) is an excellent tool for point-of-care testing in food safety and clinical diagnosis, combining immune-specific recognition properties with sensitive nano-signaling features. In this study, a potent non-antibody probe, graphene-labeled synthetic antigen (G-Ag), was developed for LFIA, providing a high sensitivity naked-eye visual colorimetric signal. The G-Ag probe exhibited simplicity, improved signal intensity, and good stability, with only one simple mixing step required in the manufacturing process. LFIA using the G-Ag probe was successfully applied to analyze clenbuterol, demonstrating favorable specificity and repeatability. This non-antibody probe-based LFIA has the potential for small-molecule target monitoring and rapid detection.

Galvanic replacement inspired signal amplification: Background-free and antibody-thrift in-situ growth immunochromatography

Rui Shu et al.

Summary: In this study, a galvanic replacement (GR) method was proposed to enhance the color intensity of nanomaterials without the use of reducing agent, thus avoiding drawbacks such as background interference, precipitation, and low reproducibility. The GR-mediated CuS-NS signal amplification was used in lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) to detect salbutamol, resulting in reduced consumption of antibodies and improved sensitivity.
