Energy metabolism measured by 31P magnetic resonance spectroscopy in the healthy human brain

Andreas Rietzler et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of brain region, hemisphere, age, sex, and brain volume on 31P-MRS metabolites in healthy adults. The results showed significant regional and sex differences in metabolite ratios, as well as changes with aging that varied between genders. These findings have important implications for future 31P-MRS studies in physiological conditions and in patients with cerebral diseases.
