Urban morphology as an adaptation strategy to improve outdoor thermal comfort in urban residential community of new assiut city, Egypt

Amr Sayed Hassan Abdallah et al.

Summary: This study aims to improve thermal comfort and resident's thermal sensation in the outer spaces of an urban residential community. It found that adding grass, trees, and semi-shading in deep canyon conditions significantly reduces PET values and surface temperature, reducing heat transfer and heat stress. Increasing tree density and semi-shading in open spaces between residential buildings can benefit residents in hot arid climates.
