The efficacy of acupuncture for stable angina pectoris: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Mingxiao Yang et al.

Summary: Acupuncture treatment for patients with stable angina pectoris can reduce angina attack frequency, improve depression and anxiety levels, and is safe and effective, although there is no significant improvement in nitroglycerin use and angina intensity. Studies with better blinding and valid sham control group are still needed due to the low quality of evidence.

Acupuncture for metabolic syndrome: systematic review and meta-analysis

Xue Li et al.

Summary: The study showed that acupuncture can improve MetS indices, especially in reducing waist circumference and body mass index compared to control groups. Acupuncture therapy also had significant effects on controlling hyperlipidemia indices and fasting blood glucose. These findings suggest that acupuncture may serve as a future direction for the treatment of MetS.

Hypertension-induced cognitive impairment: from pathophysiology to public health

Zoltan Ungvari et al.

Summary: Hypertension has significant impacts on cerebral microcirculation which can lead to cognitive impairment, especially in the elderly. Interventions targeting blood pressure reduction, lifestyle changes, and promoting microvascular health have the potential to prevent or delay vascular cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease in hypertensive patients.

Longitudinal sleep characteristics and hypertension status: results from the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort Study

Chooza Moon et al.

Summary: The study found that hypertension is associated with changes in sleep quality over time. Hypertensive individuals experienced a greater decline in total sleep time in rapid eye movement sleep and had less decline in N3 sleep compared to non-hypertensive individuals. They also had a higher probability of having difficulties falling asleep, as indicated by subjective insomnia complaints.
