Investigation of the forced-convection heat-transfer in the boiler flue-gas heat recovery units employing the real-time measured database

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: The study used a real-time measurement database to analyze heat transfer in flue-gas heat recovery units, establishing a semi-experimental formula to address the relationship between dew point temperature and heat transfer coefficient. The research found that the heat transfer coefficient is sensitive to the inlet temperature of cooling water, and also established a dimensionless formula to address the relationship among convection heat transfer coefficient and other operational parameters.

Temperature-dependent burst failure of polymeric hollow fibers used in heat exchangers

Pavel Bulejko et al.

Summary: The study found that burst pressure of polyamide fibers decreased at high temperatures, while burst pressure of polyphenylene sulfide increased in the same temperature range. Despite significant discrepancies between experimental data and theoretical models, the fibers demonstrated outstanding durability against rupture.

Shell-and-tube polymeric hollow fiber heat exchangers with parallel and crossed fibers

Erik Bartuli et al.

Summary: In this work, shell-and-tube type polymeric hollow fibers heat exchangers (PHFHE) with different fiber configurations were studied, and results showed that the overall heat transfer coefficient of the cross-wound PHFHE was 6 times higher than that of the parallel fibers PHFHE.

Comparison of a Novel Polymeric Hollow Fiber Heat Exchanger and a Commercially Available Metal Automotive Radiator

Tereza Kroulikova et al.

Summary: A novel heat exchanger developed by the Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Laboratory at the Brno University of Technology in Czech Republic was compared with a conventional commercially available metal radiator, showing higher thermal performance and lighter weight. The polymeric hollow fiber heat exchanger demonstrated about 20% higher thermal performance for the same air flow and is 30% lighter than its metal competitor.
