A review on electrostatic powder coatings for the furniture industry

Nadir Ayrilmis

Summary: Powder coatings, although relatively new to the furniture industry, have seen a rapid increase in their application on wood-based panels due to developments in low-temperature curing powders. Government regulations on toxic chemicals in solvents have also pushed furniture producers to use more environmentally friendly coating systems, with powder coatings offering non-toxic and cost-effective advantages.

Influence of Line Processing Parameters on Properties of Carbon Fibre Epoxy Towpreg

Murat Celik et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the performance of low-cost unidirectional carbon fibre towpregs in terms of line production speed and fibre volume fraction. The results show that adjusting the production speed allows for different fibre volume fractions to be achieved, resulting in composites with varying mechanical properties. Additionally, fibre straightness plays a key role in the mechanical performance of the composites.

3D printing of continuous carbon fiber reinforced thermoset composites using UV curable resin

Md Atikur Rahman et al.

Summary: This study addresses the challenge of 3D printing with continuous fiber-reinforced thermoset composite by developing a 3D printer capable of printing a UV curable resin system reinforced with continuous carbon fiber. The variations of printed composites' mechanical properties depending on the fiber tow characteristic were investigated, with two different carbon fiber types and their associated tow twist count and sizing evaluated. Burn-off tests were used to determine the printed composites' final fiber volume fraction, and predicted strength and modulus values were compared against experimental values, showing good agreement for modulus but significant deviation for strength.
