Does the modified Glasgow Prognostic Score aid in the management of patients undergoing surgery for a soft-tissue sarcoma? AN INTERNATIONAL MULTICENTRE STUDY

S. Spence et al.

Summary: The modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS) is a useful tool for predicting the prognosis of soft-tissue sarcoma (STS). This retrospective multicentre cohort study demonstrated that an increased mGPS score is associated with poorer outcomes in localized STS patients. Incorporating mGPS and other biochemical blood indicators into routine diagnostic assessment of STS patients can help stratify patient prognosis and guide treatment decisions.

C-reactive protein and tumour diagnosis predict survival in patients treated surgically for long bone metastases

Costantino Errani et al.

Summary: Surgical options for long bone metastases vary based on patient life expectancy, with intramedullary nail fixation being recommended for shorter life expectancies and prosthetic reconstruction for longer life expectancies. This study developed a prognostic score based on C-reactive protein and primary tumor diagnosis to predict patient survival at 12 months, which outperformed previous prognostic models in accuracy. The findings suggest that these simple variables can guide treatment decisions for patients with long bone metastases undergoing surgical intervention.

Prognostic Value of High-Sensitivity Modified Glasgow Prognostic Score in Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer Patients Who Received Docetaxel

Keisuke Ando et al.

Summary: The high-sensitivity modified Glasgow prognostic score (Hs-mGPS) is a powerful prognostic factor for castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), with risk classification using Hs-mGPS, PSA, and testosterone (TST) potentially useful in predicting prognosis for late staged CRPC patients. An elevated Hs-mGPS was shown to be an independent prognostic factor in CRPC patients treated with docetaxel therapy.

Clinical Outcome in Soft Tissue Sarcoma Patients with Lung Metastasis Who Received Metastasectomy and/or Radiofrequency Ablation: Tokai Musculoskeletal Oncology Consortium Study

Tomoki Nakamura et al.

Summary: The study investigated the oncological outcomes of lung metastasectomy and/or radiofrequency ablation in patients with soft tissue sarcoma. Results showed that complete treatment for the initial metastasis improved post-metastatic survival rates, with tumor size and number being important variables for clinical decision-making. Patients with a smaller single metastasis had better post-metastasis survival rates compared to those with larger and multiple metastases. The 5-year post-metastatic survival rates were higher for patients with a smaller single metastasis.
