Inhibiting excessive molecular aggregation to achieve highly efficient and stabilized organic solar cells by introducing a star-shaped nitrogen heterocyclic-ring acceptor

Summary: The star-shaped nitrogen heterocyclic-ring acceptor TF1 was introduced into the PM6:Y6 system to suppress the excessive aggregation of Y6, resulting in improved stability and performance of OSCs. The incorporation of TF1 led to enhanced short circuit current density, elevated charge transfer state energy, increased exciton lifetime and diffusion distance, and accelerated hole transfer rate in ternary OSCs. This strategy not only achieved significantly improved efficiency and stability, but also elucidated the inner workings of star-shaped small molecules in ternary OSCs.

Tandem Organic Solar Cell with 20.2% Efficiency

Achieving 17.5% efficiency for polymer solar cells via a donor and acceptor layered optimization strategy

Summary: Layer-by-layer polymer solar cells (LbL-PSCs) were prepared with PNTB6-Cl as the donor and Y6 as the acceptor using solvent additives DPE and DFB. The PCE of the optimal LbL-PSCs reached 17.53%, with over 7% enhancement compared to LbL-PSCs without solvent additives. Different solvent additives in the donor and acceptor solutions can optimize the photogenerated exciton distribution and charge transport. LbL-PSCs show better PCEs compared to bulk heterojunction PSCs, indicating their great potential for commercial application.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Realization of high performance for PM6:Y6 based organic photovoltaic cells

Efforts have been focused on understanding the structural characteristics of PM6 and Y6, optimizing strategies for PM6:Y6-based OPV cells, and exploring various applications of this system in different devices. Future prospects for OPV studies are also suggested in this review.
