A removable photothermal antibacterial warm paste target for cariogenic bacteria

Xiaoyang Xu et al.

Summary: The study introduced a method to treat dental bacteria infection using photothermal antibacterial warm paste nanoagents. Through the design of FePAgPG nanoparticles, efficient antibacterial effects against cariogenic bacteria were achieved at a relatively lower temperature and in a short period of time.

A versatile nanocomposite based on nanoceria for antibacterial enhancement and protection from aPDT-aggravated inflammation via modulation of macrophage polarization

Yue Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, a composite nanomaterial was designed to achieve simultaneous sterilization and inflammation elimination by combining a photosensitizer and ROS scavenger. This nano-based platform can modulate host immunity by down-regulating pro-inflammatory macrophages and up-regulating anti-inflammatory and regenerative macrophages. Additionally, the local ROS level induced by activated inflammation pathway can be adjusted in a very long time due to the charge conversion effect of CeO2, improving the regenerative potential of inflammatory surrounding tissues in the animal model.

A Bifunctional Zwitterion-Modified Porphyrin for Photodynamic Nondestructive Tooth Whitening and Biofilm Eradication

Hao Zhang et al.

Summary: A bifunctional photodynamic dental therapy (PDDT) strategy based on ZMP has been developed for tooth whitening and biofilm eradication, showing superior ROS output and ability to disintegrate extracellular polymeric substances compared to PP. This new approach highlights the potential of ZMP as a photosensitizer for clinical dentistry in addressing tooth whitening and biofilm-induced dental diseases.
