Mechanism study on organic ternary photovoltaics with 18.3% certified efficiency: from molecule to device

Yaokai Li et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the working mechanism of ternary blend organic photovoltaics based on non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs). Molecular dynamics simulations and morphology characterization reveal that the addition of larger band gap and highly miscible NFAs improves composition-dependent band gap and charge recombination, leading to enhanced power conversion efficiency.

Rational Design of Highly Efficient Semi-Transparent Organic Photovoltaics with Silver Nanowire Top Electrode via 3D Optical Simulation Study

Hong In Jeong et al.

Summary: Achieving high light utilization efficiency is crucial for improving the performance of semi-transparent organic photovoltaics (ST-OPVs). By designing silver nanowire (Ag NW) top electrodes and utilizing 3D optical simulation, highly efficient ST-OPVs with improved visible transmission and current density values were achieved. This work sets a record for the highest LUE in ST-OPVs reported to date and introduces a novel approach using 3D optical simulation.
