Experimental investigation on time-domain features in the diagnosis of rolling element bearings by acoustic emission

Aref Aasi et al.

Summary: In this study, different time-domain features for diagnosis of rolling element bearings were investigated using an experimental test rig equipped with an acoustic emission sensor. The results suggest that features such as clearance, sixth central moment, impulse, kurtosis, and crest factors are suitable for diagnosis purposes. Additionally, the clearance factor is promising for small defects, while the sixth central moment is promising for large defects in rolling element bearings.

Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis of Induction Motor

Swapnil K. Gundewar et al.

Summary: The induction motor is a vital component in rotating machines, with monitoring its condition necessary to avoid catastrophic failure and production stoppage. Vibration is a manifestation of issues in the induction motor, and faults lead to changes in vibration signature over time.

Sounds and acoustic emission-based early fault diagnosis of induction motor: A review study

Omar AlShorman et al.

Summary: The study reviews the research on condition monitoring and fault diagnosis based on sound and AE, focusing on four types of faults: bearings, rotor, stator, and compound. It analyzes the advantages and limitations of using sound and AE analysis in CM and FD, while addressing the challenges and future directions for AE-based CM and FD in rotating machinery, particularly for induction motors.
