Effect of poly(ethylene glycol) on drug delivery, antibacterial, biocompatible, physico-chemical and thermo-mechanical properties of PCL-chloramphenicol electrospun nanofiber scaffolds

Gajanan Kashinathrao Arbade et al.

Summary: The present study investigates the effect of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) addition on the properties of poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL)-chloramphenicol (CAP) electrospun nanofiber scaffolds. The results demonstrate that PEG addition improves the hydrophilicity, crystallinity, glass transition temperature, cell growth ability, and reduces cytotoxicity of PCL. Additionally, PEG addition facilitates well-defined drug release kinetics and enhances the antibacterial and biocompatible properties of the scaffolds.

Design and fabrication of drug-delivery systems toward adjustable release profiles for personalized treatment

Armin Geraili et al.

Summary: Advanced polymeric controlled delivery systems are designed to treat chronic diseases by adjusting drug release profiles, but conventional carriers cannot meet the needs of diseases requiring variable drug release patterns. The importance of individualized therapy and the tunable properties of biodegradable polymers are driving the design and manufacturing of controlled drug delivery systems with adjustable release profiles.
