Synthesis of porous Ag-Ag2S@Ag-Au hybrid nanostructures with broadband absorption properties and their photothermal conversion application

Summary: A novel method for synthesizing metal-semiconductor@ bimetal hybrid nanostructures with unique porous architectures has been described. These structures exhibit excellent broadband absorption in the UV-Vis-NIR region and high photothermal conversion efficiency. Mechanism for the high photothermal conversion activity was proposed based on experimental and simulation results.

Summary: In this study, a silver catalyst structure that adsorbs bromide ions was reported, forming porous coral-like microspheres through in situ electrolysis of AgBr microparticles, resulting in significantly improved mass activity. The catalyst showed high faradic efficiency for CO reduction and excellent stability over a wide potential range, with potential for large-scale applications.

Nanofibrous Photocatalytic Membranes Based on Tailored Anisotropic Gold/Ceria Nanoparticles

Summary: Combining plasmonic nanoparticles with semiconductor photocatalysts and embedding them in polymer fibers to design photocatalytic membranes can enhance catalytic activity. Gold nanoparticles covered with patches of cerium oxide outperformed fully covered and naked nanoparticles in catalytic efficiency in model reactions. This approach was successfully applied in water remediation experiments.

Summary: A novel deposition mechanism of Au atoms on Ag nanostructures involving simultaneous galvanic replacement and reduction reactions has been proposed in this study. The morphology of the final Ag@Au nanostructures is determined by the ratio between the two reactions. This mechanism has been verified experimentally and shown to be applicable to different morphologies of nanostructures.

Visible light enhanced p-nitrophenol reduction by glycerol over Ag/Cu core-shell bimetallic nanocatalysts

Summary: This study investigates the photocatalytic properties of Cu@Ag and Ag@Cu core-shell nanostructures for the reduction of p-nitrophenol by glycerol under dark and visible light conditions. The Cu@Ag nanoparticles showed significantly enhanced plasmonic photocatalytic activity compared to Ag@Cu nanoparticles. Density functional theory calculations and time-dependent density functional theory simulations were used to understand the electronic structure and mechanism of the core-shell nanostructures.
