A comparative analysis of rumen pH, milk production characteristics, and blood metabolites of Holstein cattle fed different forage levels for the establishment of objective indicators of the animal welfare certification standard

Dong Jin Baek et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to obtain an objective index for establishing an animal welfare certification standard in Korea. The study compared rumen pH, ruminating time, milk yield, milk quality, and blood components in cows reared in farms with different forage levels. The results showed that cows on the welfare farm had longer rumination time, healthier rumen pH, and higher milk production efficiency compared to those on the conventional farm.

Effects of genotype and concentrate supplementation on milk composition and selected milk processability parameters in late-lactation spring-calving grazing dairy cows

M. J. Doran et al.

Summary: The experiment showed that high milk-producing genotype cows and offering concentrate supplementation (CS) can increase milk yield, but also decrease the concentrations of fat, protein, and casein in the milk. Additionally, milk from cows offered CS exhibited better ethanol stability compared to cows offered pasture-only.

Regulation of pancreatic exocrine in ruminants and the related mechanism: The signal transduction and more

Long Guo et al.

Summary: The unique structure of the stomach in ruminant animals leads to differences in nutrient digestion compared to monogastric animals. Improving small intestine digestion, particularly starch digestion, is crucial for high-yield ruminants. Research on pancreatic exocrine regulation in ruminants is hindered by factors such as the complex structure of the pancreas and internal and external influences.

Nutritional performance and metabolic characteristics of cattle fed tropical forages with protein and starch supplementation

Marcia O. Franco et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of protein and starch supplementation on the nutritional performance and metabolic characteristics of cattle fed low- and medium-quality tropical forages. Results showed that protein supplementation benefits nitrogen retention in animals, with a more prominent effect when animals are fed low-quality forages.

Phytobiotic role of essential oil-loaded microcapsules in improving the health parameters in Clostridium perfringens-infected broiler chickens

Mahsa Moharreri et al.

Summary: The study developed microcapsules loaded with a blend of essential oils and evaluated their health-promoting activity among Clostridium perfringens-challenged broiler chickens. The microencapsulation effectively prevented the release of bioactive phenolic compounds in the upper parts of the GIT and increased their delivery to the lower segments in the broiler chickens. The essential oil-loaded microcapsules showed promising results in enhancing growth parameters, antioxidant status, intestinal microbial population, and regulating antioxidant and inflammation genes in the broiler chickens infected with C. perfringens.
