Validation of the Social Media Disorder Scale in Adolescents: Findings From a Large-Scale Nationally Representative Sample

Characteristics of social media 'detoxification' in university students

Summary: The proliferation of social networking sites has led to an increased frequency of use among young adults, with high levels of use being correlated with problematic behaviors, low self-esteem, and depression. 'Social Media Detoxification' is a voluntary attempt to reduce or stop social media use in order to improve wellbeing. A pilot study on university students showed that most participants experienced positive changes in mood, reduced anxiety, and improved sleep during and after the detoxification period.
