Compressive Performance of Partially CFRP-Confined Square Seawater-Sea Sand Concrete Columns with Internal Epoxy-Coated Reinforcement

Junlong Yang et al.

Summary: This study presents an experimental investigation on the compressive behavior of CFRP-confined SSC columns with ECR reinforcement. The results reveal that the position of CFRP strips relative to the steel hoops significantly affects the mechanical behavior of the specimens, especially the deformation capacity. The study also found more significant improvements in strength and ductility for reinforced columns with smaller clear spacing ratios and higher volumetric ratios of FRP wraps. Additionally, a regression-based stress-strain model and a simple expression for accurately predicting the load capacity of concrete columns wrapped with FRP strips are proposed.

Comparative study of the flexural behavior of steel fiber-reinforced lightweight aggregate concrete beams reinforced and prestressed with CFRP tendons

Tao Wu et al.

Summary: The experimental investigation compared the flexural behavior of lightweight aggregate concrete beams reinforced and prestressed with CFRP bars, showing that prestressing force and steel fibers can reduce deflection and crack width, while longer clear span length results in wider cracks. A geometry-based model and iterative algorithm were proposed for calculating the deflection and stress increment of beams prestressed with unbonded FRP tendons.

Uniaxial performance of circular hybrid fibre-reinforced lightweight aggregate concrete columns

Tao Wu et al.

Summary: The study found that polypropylene fibers have a more significant effect on preventing concrete cracking and spalling, whereas carbon fibers also play a positive role in enhancing the compressive performance of the concrete. Additionally, the volumetric fiber fractions and fiber types play a crucial role in enhancing the ductility of concrete columns.
