Investigating the metal-enhanced fluorescence on fluorescein by silica core-shell gold nanoparticles using time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy

Yi-Ting Liu et al.

Summary: Fluorescein silica core/shell nanoparticles, gold@silica@fluorescein were synthesized for the study of metal-enhanced fluorescence. The fluorescence enhancement factor was slightly greater in neutral ethanol solution compared to basic solution, with red-shifted fluorescence spectra observed in GNP@silica@FiTC compared to silica@FiTC and FiTC in solution.

Fluorescein Based Fluorescence Sensors for the Selective Sensing of Various Analytes

S. Keerthana et al.

Summary: Fluorescein molecules are widely used for developing fluorescent probes due to their excellent photophysical properties and spirocyclic structure. Structural modifications at the carboxyl group can lead to the production of non-fluorescent spirolactam structure, with ring opening causing fluorescence. In the past five years, there has been an increase in the development of dual sensors and reported fluorescein derivatives based on reversible mechanisms.
