Ultrasensitive nanoplasmonic biosensor based on interferometric excitation of multipolar plasmonic modes

Ulises Felix-Rendon et al.

Summary: The proposed nanoplasmonic interferometric biosensor exploits the selective excitation of multipolar plasmonic modes in a nanoslit for highly-sensitive biosensing. By controlling the width of the slit, ample control over the trade-off between operating range and resolution is achieved.

Solar-driven evaporators for water treatment: challenges and opportunities

Shao-Lin Wu et al.

Summary: The process of solar-driven evaporation is crucial in acquiring freshwater from saline water with the use of photothermal materials. Considerable efforts have been made to enhance energy conversion efficiency through material and device design. This review discusses the factors influencing evaporator efficiency and long-term performance, including the selection of photothermal materials, promotion of evaporation efficiency, and solutions to scaling issues. By optimizing material components and structure, improving evaporation efficiency, reducing heat loss, and addressing scaling problems, the goal of obtaining freshwater can be more efficiently achieved.
