An overview of antimicrobial and anticancer potential of silver nanoparticles

Summary: Nanotechnology has great potential for developing novel products that benefit human health, the environment, and industries. Silver nanoparticles and their nanocomposites are widely used in various fields such as electronics, biomedical, environmental protection, textiles, cosmetics, therapeutics, photonics, and agriculture. The unique properties of silver nanostructures, such as excellent SERS/SPR, surface properties, shape diversity, controlled silver ion release, and biocompatibility, make them potential antimicrobial, anticancer, and diagnostic agents. This review highlights the antimicrobial and anticancer properties of silver nanoparticles, as well as their diverse applications in consumer and health care products, biomedical devices, implants, and environmental remediation.
