Progress of Cancer Nanotechnology as Diagnostics, Therapeutics, and Theranostics Nanomedicine: Preclinical Promise and Translational Challenges

Sultan Alshehri et al.

Summary: Early detection, correct therapeutic intervention, and simultaneous effectiveness mapping are critical factors in successful cancer therapy. Advances in nanomedicines have allowed the combination of therapy and diagnostics in a single system, termed cancer theranostics. However, only a few cancer nanomedicines have been approved and are currently in clinical trials.

Insights of doxorubicin loaded graphene quantum dots: Synthesis, DFT drug interactions, and cytotoxicity

Amany M. Sawy et al.

Summary: Carbon nanomaterials such as graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and graphene oxide nanosheets (GO) exhibit different drug loading capacities and release rates. GO showed the highest DOX loading capacity, while GQDs1 had the highest release rate. In terms of cytotoxicity and biosafety, GQDs1 was the most efficient in delivering DOX into cells with no noticeable cytotoxicity against WI-38 cells.
