Preparation of ZnO/Nylon 6/6 nanocomposites, their characterization and application in dye decolorization

Khalid Saeed et al.

Summary: Nylon 6/6 and ZnO/nylon 6/6 nanocomposite films were prepared by solvent casting method. The morphological study showed better dispersion of ZnO NPs in nylon 6/6, but agglomerations were found with high filler quantities. The incorporation of nanoparticles decreased the thermal stabilities of neat nylon 6/6 films and slowed down the crystallization rate, as observed in DSC study.

Photocatalytic dye degradation and photoexcited anti-microbial activities of green zinc oxide nanoparticles synthesized via Sargassum muticum extracts

Harinee Subramanian et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that zinc oxide nanoparticles mediated by Sargassum muticum exhibited significant antimicrobial effects against drug-resistant superbugs. These nanoparticles can directly attack bacterial cells and cause death through a biphasic phenomenon, while also possessing photocatalytic activity for dye degradation. The findings suggest potential applications of these nanoparticles in environmental water purification.

Photo-degradation, thermodynamic and kinetic study of carcinogenic dyes via zinc oxide/graphene oxide nanocomposites

Farhana Anjum et al.

Summary: Pollution problems worsen with industrial development, with organic dyes being a toxic ingredient in industrial effluents. Zinc oxide/graphene oxide nanocomposite was synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized. Methyl red dye was used to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite, showing high efficiency possibly due to improved charge passage and separation.
