Serum Metabolomics Analysis for Biomarkers of Lactobacillus plantarum FRT4 in High-Fat Diet-Induced Obese Mice

Hongying Cai et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in serum metabolomic phenotype in high-fat diet-induced obese mice orally administered with Lactobacillus plantarum FRT4 using UHPLC-QTOF/MS. A total of 55 potential biomarkers associated with obesity were identified, mainly involving in glycerophospholipid metabolism, tryptophan metabolism, and arachidonic acid metabolism. These findings suggest that FRT4 can serve as a promising dietary supplement for the prevention of HFD-induced obesity.

Mentha cordifolia Leaf Extract Improves Hepatic Glucose and Lipid Metabolism in Obese Mice Fed with High-Fat Diet

Jarinyaporn Naowaboot et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that Mentha cordifolia (MC) can significantly reduce levels of hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, hyperleptinemia, and hyperlipidemia in mice fed a high-fat diet. Additionally, MC treatment was associated with inhibition of inflammatory factors, decreased lipid accumulation in the liver, and modulation of gene expression related to lipid metabolism. Activation of AMPK signaling pathway may be a key mechanism by which MC regulates glucose and lipid metabolism in obese mice.

Pathophysiological Molecular Mechanisms of Obesity: A Link between MAFLD and NASH with Cardiovascular Diseases

Jorge Gutierrez-Cuevas et al.

Summary: Obesity is a global epidemic associated with various comorbidities, such as MAFLD, NASH, and CVD, with T2D being a common link between MAFLD/NASH and CVD. Understanding the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms is crucial for developing effective strategies to prevent and treat these diseases.

Adipose tissue and insulin resistance in obese

Bulbul Ahmed et al.

Summary: This review discusses the potential mechanisms behind obesity-associated insulin resistance, such as dysfunctional adipose tissue, excessive release of free fatty acids, and the impact of lipotoxicity on cellular dysfunction leading to systemic inflammation and disruption of the insulin signaling pathway. It highlights that hepatic insulin resistance is the primary event that triggers peripheral tissue insulin resistance.

Growth Performance, Antioxidant Activity, Immune Status, Meat Quality, Liver Fat Content, and Liver Histomorphology of Broiler Chickens Fed Rice Bran Oil

Shaimaa Selim et al.

Summary: The inclusion of rice bran oil (RBO) in broiler chickens' diets improves performance, immune status, antioxidant activity, blood lipid profile, and the nutritive value of the meat. RBO supplementation leads to positive effects on productivity parameters, dressing percentage, breast yield, and immune organs relative weights, while reducing abdominal fat yield and meat lipid content. Additionally, RBO enhances antioxidant capacity, decreases cholesterol and triglycerides, and induces lipid-reducing effects in both meat and liver tissues.

Effect of Thunbergia laurifolia water extracts on hepatic insulin resistance in high-fat diet-induced obese mice

Jarinyaporn Naowaboot et al.

Summary: Thunbergia laurifolia extracts can alleviate hepatic insulin resistance in high-fat diet-induced obese mice by improving glucose and lipid homeostasis, potentially through stimulation of phosphorylation of AMPK and Akt pathways.
