Clinical characteristics, treatment and outcomes of paediatric COVID-19: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis compared paediatric COVID-19 disease characteristics, management, and outcomes based on World Bank country income level and disease severity. The majority of paediatric cases with COVID-19 recovered, but low- and middle-income countries had higher death rates among hospitalized children and lower ICU admission rates compared to high-income countries. Children with severe disease received more frequent antimicrobials, inotropes, and anti-inflammatory agents. Further global research on severe disease characterization in children with COVID-19 is needed.

Early impact of school closure and social distancing for COVID-19 on the number of inpatients with childhood non-COVID-19 acute infections in Japan
