Value of quantitative analysis in lung computed tomography in patients severely ill with COVID-19

Marta Rorat et al.

Summary: QCT is an effective tool to objectively assess lung damage in COVID-19 pneumonia patients. The study showed that severe patients had more extensive lung changes compared to non-severe patients, with correlations found between image severity and clinical factors. QCT can predict death and respiratory support, with higher accuracy in predicting death risk than indicating the need for respiratory support.

Automated quantification of COVID-19 pneumonia severity in chest CT using histogram-based multi-level thresholding segmentation

Hazem Abuzeid Yousef et al.

Summary: The study compared automated histogram-based quantification with conventional semi-quantitative scoring in 153 COVID-19 pneumonia patients, finding a strong correlation between the two methods and a high correlation between imaging metrics and clinical severity.
