Sex and Gender Differences in Overlap Syndrome of Functional Gastrointestinal Disorder and Effect of Genetic Polymorphisms in South Korea: A Long-term Follow-up Study

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical features of non-erosive reflux disease, functional dyspepsia, and irritable bowel syndrome, and their overlap in terms of sex and gender. The findings showed that overlapping functional gastrointestinal disorders were more prevalent in women and were associated with higher levels of anxiety and depression, as well as more frequent and severe symptoms.

Clinical characteristics and risk factors of gastroesophageal reflux disease in Vietnamese patients with upper gastrointestinal symptoms undergoing esophagogastroduodenoscopy

Summary: This study assessed the features and risk factors of GERD in Vietnamese patients, finding that most patients had none or mild mucosal injury and typical reflux symptoms may not be the chief complaints. Central obesity was found to be more important than general obesity as a risk factor, while Helicobacter pylori infection was a protective factor for GERD in Vietnamese patients.
