A novel renewable energy storage system based on reversible SOFC, hydrogen storage, Rankine cycle and absorption refrigeration system

Uday Raj Singh et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the energy analysis of an integrated system consisting of a solid oxide fuel cell operating in fuel cell mode and electrolyser mode, coupled with Rankine cycle, metal hydride system, and absorption refrigeration system for power generation, heating, and cooling applications. The results show a significant improvement in the performance of the integrated plant compared to the power generation using only the combination of the solid oxide fuel cell and the Rankine cycle. The maximum efficiency in fuel cell mode occurs at an inlet flow temperature of 900 K, and the maximum overall efficiency of the system in electrolyser mode is 88.82%.

Enabling thermal-neutral electrolysis for CO2-to-fuel conversions with a hybrid deep learning strategy

Haoran Xu et al.

Summary: A hybrid simulation method is proposed for the accurate and fast optimization of the co-electrolysis process in SOECs, with a focus on thermal-neutral condition as the target. The smallest peak-temperature-gradients inside the SOEC are found to be crucial for preventing thermal failure in operation at the thermal-neutral condition.
