Experimental investigations on the phase change and thermal properties of nano enhanced binary eutectic phase change material of palmitic acid-stearic acid/CuO nanoparticles for thermal energy storage

Rahul Agrawal et al.

Summary: A novel nano-enhanced binary eutectic phase change material was prepared using a two-step method, with palmitic acid and stearic acid as base PCM and copper oxide nanomaterial as a thermal conductive enhancer in varying mass fractions. The inclusion of nanoparticles improved the thermal stability and conductivity of the PCM, making it suitable for moderate temperature energy storage applications. The findings from experiments showed that the nano-enhanced PCM had excellent thermal and chemical stability, with increased thermal conductivity at higher mass fractions of nanoparticles.

Enhancing tubular solar still performance using novel PCM-tubes

Mohamed Elashmawy et al.

Summary: The study developed a novel PCM-tubes geometry for use in a tubular solar still with a parabolic solar concentrator, successfully enhancing freshwater productivity and device performance while reducing production costs. By using PCM-tubes, the productivity and efficiency of the device were improved by 40.51% and 38.25% respectively, making it a cost-effective solution compared to traditional solar desalination techniques. Further research is needed to continue improving the tubular solar still.

Energy, Exergy, and Economic analysis of low thermal conductivity basin solar still integrated with Phase Change Material for energy storage

V. S. Vigneswaran et al.

Summary: The use of acrylic as the material for the basin of a solar still incorporated with PCM helped to reduce the charging time of the PCM and improve the yield of the still. The yield and exergy efficiency of the acrylic-based still were higher compared to the other types of stills tested in the study.
