Hybrid deep learning model for concrete incorporating microencapsulated phase change materials

Harun Tanyildizi et al.

Summary: This study proposed a framework using deep learning to predict the compressive strength of PCM-integrated concrete. Various models were developed based on experimental data, with deep learning and XGBoost models being able to accurately predict the compressive strength of PCM integrated concrete with low prediction error. A sensitivity analysis identified the most influential parameters on compressive strength development to assist in concrete mixture design incorporating MPCM.

Thermal conductivity of concrete at high temperatures for thermal energy storage applications: Experimental analysis

T. Lucio-Martin et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated the evolution of thermal conductivity of concrete at high temperatures, revealing that the initial loss of thermal conductivity during heating is mainly due to the loss of free water. Siliceous aggregates experienced the highest decrease in thermal conductivity, while the thermal conductivity partially recovered during the cooling phase.

Evaluating the thermal efficiency of microencapsulated phase change materials for thermal energy storage in cementitious composites

Mohammad Balapour et al.

Summary: The research found that the thermal efficiency of MCPM in cementitious composites is affected by mechanical and chemical damages, resulting in a reduction of 32%-34% in thermal efficiency. Slow mixing minimizes damage to MCPM, while fast mixing can reduce thermal efficiency by 50%. The main component of pore solution SO42- chemically reacts with MCPM, leading to reduced thermal efficiency.

Studies on microstructural and thermo-physico properties of microencapsulated eutectic phase change material incorporated pure cement system

B. Srinivasaraonaik et al.

Summary: The experimental results show that the incorporation of MPCM in cement paste alters the physical parameters of the material and significantly affects thermal comfort. These changes include variations in parameters such as compressive strength, bulk density, thermal conductivity, and specific heat capacity, which can improve the thermal comfort of the cement paste.

Experimental thermal study of a new PCM-concrete thermal storage block (PCM-CTSB)

Yongliang Shen et al.

Summary: Phase change material concrete has been widely used in passive building energy conservation, but less research has been done for its application in active low temperature thermal storage systems. This study successfully prepared PCM-CLSC aggregate and PCM-concrete thermal storage blocks using CLSC, and testing results showed that increasing the PCM weight percentage can improve the specific heat capacity.

Thermal and mechanical degradation assessment in refractory concrete as thermal energy storage container material in concentrated solar plants

Cristina Prieto et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the proposal of using a concrete storage tank as a molten salt container for concentrating solar power applications. The results showed good chemical and mechanical performance of the concrete during the molten salt test, but it was found that the presence of molten salt changed the thermal properties of the concrete, increasing density and thermal conductivity in the areas closer to the molten salt reservoir.
