An Ixodes scapularis glutathione S-transferase plays a role in cell survival and viability during Langat virus infection of a tick cell line

Emmanuel Pacia Hernandez et al.

Summary: The study illustrates the critical role of ticks' antioxidant mechanism, specifically GSTs, in the process of LGTV infection. The IsGST1 gene exhibits a time-dependent expression pattern during LGTV infection, and its knockout affects cell viability and viral titers. The results suggest that GSTs may serve as an important mechanism for mutual survival and proliferation of both cells and the virus.
