Oxidative Coupling of Methane: Examining the Inactivity of the MnOx-Na2WO4/SiO2 Catalyst at Low Temperature

Jiaqi Si et al.

Summary: This study reports a low-temperature active and selective MnOx-Na2WO4/SiO2 catalyst for the oxidative coupling of methane (OCM). The presence of Q(2) units in the SiO2 carrier is found to significantly lower the light-off temperature of the Mn3+ <-> Mn2+ redox cycle, enhancing the catalytic activity. Additionally, Na2WO4 promotes the reaction initiation and improves the selectivity towards C2-3 products.

Hybrid catalysts containing Ba, Ti, Mn, Na, and W for the low-temperature oxidative coupling of methane

Lien Thi Do et al.

Summary: The oxidative coupling of methane using hybrid catalysts containing BaTiO3 perovskite and Mn-Na2WO4 exhibited high activity and selectivity at low temperature by improving oxygen-supplying ability and methane activation ability of the catalysts. This was achieved through the insertion of Mn into BaTiO3 and the formation of NaxMn(Ti) O-2, and the stable interaction between WO(4)(2-) anions and the catalysts.

Engineering Thermally Resistant Catalytic Particles for Oxidative Coupling of Methane Using Spray-Drying and Incorporating SiC

Gontzal Lezcano et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel SiC-SiO2 support synthesized by spray drying was developed to enhance the thermal resistance and lifetime of Mn-Na-W catalyst for oxidative coupling of methane. The incorporation of SiC into the support using spray drying technique led to a more stable catalyst with higher C-2 selectivity compared to traditional SiO2-supported catalyst. This enhancement is attributed to the uniform distribution of active phases and SiC, as well as the improved thermal resistance provided by SiC in avoiding thermal shocks and stabilizing the catalyst phases during long-term stability tests.

Effect of facile nitrogen doping on catalytic performance of NaW/Mn/SiO2 for oxidative coupling of methane

Heeyeon Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, a simple pyridine treatment of NaW/Mn/SiO2 led to nitrogen-doping of the active sites, resulting in significantly improved CH4 conversion rate and high C-2 selectivity. Various characterization techniques were employed to understand the effect of N doping on the performance of NaW/Mn/SiO2 for OCM, providing new insights for improving catalytic performance in OCM reactions.
