Characterization and differentiation potential of mesenchymal stem cells isolated from multiple canine adipose tissue sources

Usman Rashid et al.

Summary: In this study, we found that canine MSCs derived from infrapatellar fat pad (IPFP) have the highest proliferation rate, while those from omental (OM) adipose tissue have higher cell metabolism. MSCs from all sources showed positive expression of CD73, CD90, CD105, and low expression of CD45. The differentiation potential of canine MSCs isolated from different adipose tissue sources was assessed, with OM-derived MSCs showing better differentiation potential towards adipo- and osteogenic lineages.

Therapeutic Use of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells: The Need for Inclusive Characterization Guidelines to Accommodate All Tissue Sources and Species

Adrienne Wright et al.

Summary: The promise of MSCs as a therapeutic modality has not yet translated to consistent, successful clinical trial results in humans, despite preclinical data demonstrating their potential. MSC shareholders aim to improve the quality of life for patients with suboptimal or ineffective standard care. Although there are no FDA-approved MSC therapies in the US market, several MSC products have received regulatory approval in other countries.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Secretome for the Treatment of Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Diseases: Latest Trends in Isolation, Content Optimization and Delivery Avenues

Elena Munoz-Perez et al.

Summary: The secretome of MSCs, composed of soluble factors and extracellular vesicles, has shown promising immunomodulatory effects for treating IMIDs by controlling inflammatory processes. Although this new therapy holds potential, there are still challenges to be addressed in its composition, production, application, and delivery methods.

High Variability of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Obtained via Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate Compared With Traditional Bone Marrow Aspiration Technique

Ava Brozovich et al.

Summary: This study aimed to characterize bone marrow aspirate (BMA) versus bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) for mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) quantity, potency, and cytokine profile. The results showed significantly higher MSC concentration and CFU number in BMA compared to BMAC, with BMAC failing to concentrate MSC in 6 out of 8 samples.

The Expression Pattern of Surface Markers in Canine Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Nina Kresic et al.

Summary: During cultivation, canine adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells showed variations in the expression of surface markers, with an increase in CD90, CD44, and CD29, a decrease in CD271 and CD73, and a decrease in initially high levels of CD105. CD45 and CD14 were not expressed. Interestingly, there was a significant decrease in CD73 expression from early to late passages, despite stable gene expression. Positive marker expression was highest up to passage 4, suggesting the impact of culture time on therapeutic properties.
