Epigenetic Dysregulation of the Homeobox A5 (HOXA5) Gene Associates with Subcutaneous Adipocyte Hypertrophy in Human Obesity

Luca Parrillo et al.

Summary: Impaired adipogenesis in relatives of type 2 diabetics is associated with reduced HOXA5 expression and altered DNA methylation, leading to subcutaneous adipocyte hypertrophy and increased diabetes risk.

RNA-seq analysis reveals the positive role of KLF5 in the differentiation of subcutaneous adipocyte in goats

Xin Li et al.

Summary: In this study, 6814 differentially expressed genes were screened in goat subcutaneous preadipocytes and mature adipocytes using RNA-seq technique. The relative expression of the selected genes, such as PLIN2, MECR, ADCY7, PEBP1 and KLF5, was validated by qPCR. KLF5 was found to play a crucial role in adipocyte differentiation and adipogenesis process.

Brown adipose tissue is associated with cardiometabolic health

Tobias Becher et al.

Summary: A retrospective analysis of over 50,000 patients' F-18-FDG PET/CT scans revealed that individuals with brown adipose tissue had lower odds of cardiometabolic conditions. The presence of brown adipose tissue was independently correlated with lower odds of type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, congestive heart failure, and hypertension. The beneficial effects of brown adipose tissue were more pronounced in individuals with overweight or obesity, suggesting a potential role in mitigating the deleterious effects of obesity.

HOXA5 counteracts the function of pathological scar-derived fibroblasts by partially activating p53 signaling

Yimin Liang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that HOXA5 plays a role in mediating the cellular processes of pathological scar-derived fibroblasts by transcriptionally activating the p53 signaling pathway, promoting cell apoptosis and inhibiting cell proliferation and migration. 9-cis-retinoic acid enhances the effects of HOXA5, suggesting a potential therapy for pathological scars.

HOXA5 Participates in Brown Adipose Tissue and Epaxial Skeletal Muscle Patterning and in Brown Adipocyte Differentiation

Miriam A. Holzman et al.

Summary: Hoxa5 plays a critical role in embryonic BAT development and negatively regulates formation of epaxial muscle. The protein is expressed in embryonic adipocytes as early as day 12.5.

A Study of the Regulatory Mechanism of the CB1/PPARγ2/PLIN1/HSL Pathway for Fat Metabolism in Cattle

Ruili Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that CB1 participates in lipid metabolism by regulating the expression of genes related to lipid synthesis in adipocytes, and shows differential expression in different breeds of cattle. The CB1/PPAR gamma 2/PLIN1/HSL pathway may be involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism.

KLF4 Inhibits the Differentiation of Goat Intramuscular Preadipocytes Through Targeting C/EBPβ Directly

Qing Xu et al.

Summary: The KLF4 gene in goats regulates the differentiation of intramuscular preadipocytes by targeting the C/EBP beta gene. Knockdown or overexpression of KLF4 affects lipid accumulation and the expression of adipogenic related genes in goat muscle cells. Other members of the KLF family may also be regulated by KLF4 during this process.
