Influence of Charging Parameters on the Burden Flow Velocity and Distribution on the Blast Furnace Chute Based on Discrete Element Method

Ke Zhou et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the influence of charging parameters on the trajectory, velocity, and distribution of burden flow in a blast furnace. It was found that the chute angle has the greatest impact on the burden flow velocity, while the other two parameters are almost negligible. Increasing the flow valve opening, chute angle, and rotating speed can increase the radial movement distance of the burden flow.

Effects of Operational Parameters on Particle Movement and Distribution at the Top of a Bell-Less Blast Furnace Based on Discrete Element Method

Zhibin Hong et al.

Summary: In blast furnaces, the chute plays a crucial role in determining burden distribution, with chute length and angle affecting particle movement and radial burden distribution. As chute length or angle increases, burden particles are more likely to slide in the opposite direction of rotation, leading to segregation of burden distribution. The segregation is mainly caused by particle velocity separation and pellet percolation on the chute, resulting in aggregation with longer chute length and dispersion with higher stock-line level or chute angle.
