Propranolol hydrochloride degradation using La@TiO2 functionalized with CMCD

Gustavo Lopes Colpani et al.

Summary: Propranolol hydrochloride is a persistent and bioaccumulative pharmaceutical in the environment, with potential toxicity and adverse effects. The efficiency of TiO2-La 0.05%-CMCD nanoparticles in degrading propranolol under UV-light irradiation is higher than that of pristine TiO2, possibly due to complex formation between the beta-blocker and the oligosaccharide.

Methyl Orange Photo-Degradation by TiO2 in a Pilot Unit under Different Chemical, Physical, and Hydraulic Conditions

Andrea Petrella et al.

Summary: The photo-catalytic degradation of a textile azo-dye Methyl Orange was studied in an innovative unit with a titanium dioxide catalyst layer, activated by UVB irradiation. Various parameters such as TiO2 dosage, dye concentration, pH, flow-rate, hydraulic load, and irradiation power were found to influence degradation rates. An increase in flow rate led to higher degradation kinetics, while further increase associated with modification of hydraulic load resulted in lower rates. Additionally, the kinetic rates increased with higher UVB intensity.
