CircRTN4 promotes pancreatic cancer progression through a novel CircRNA-miRNA-lncRNA pathway and stabilizing epithelial-mesenchymal transition protein

Chi Hin Wong et al.

Summary: In this study, the upregulated circRTN4 was found to promote tumor growth and metastasis in PDAC through various mechanisms, including interacting with miRNAs, lncRNAs, and stabilizing RAB11FIP1 to contribute to epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).

CircMAN1A2 is upregulated by Helicobacter pylori and promotes development of gastric cancer

Ruiting Guo et al.

Summary: This study found that Helicobacter pylori can induce the upregulation of circMAN1A2 in gastric cancer cells, and the downregulation of circMAN1A2 can inhibit the growth and invasion of gastric cancer cells. Furthermore, circMAN1A2 promotes the progression of H. pylori-induced gastric cancer by regulating the expression of MTA2. This study suggests that circMAN1A2 may be a potential diagnostic marker and therapeutic target for gastric cancer.

Circular RNA EIF4G3 suppresses gastric cancer progression through inhibition of β-catenin by promoting δ-catenin ubiquitin degradation and upregulating SIK1

Xueyan Zang et al.

Summary: This study reveals that circEIF4G3 is downregulated in gastric cancer (GC) and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Overexpression of circEIF4G3 inhibits GC growth and metastasis, while knockdown of circEIF4G3 has opposite effects. Mechanistically, circEIF4G3 promotes the degradation of delta-catenin protein and upregulates SIK1 expression through its interaction with miR-4449.

A novel circular RNA circFN1 enhances cisplatin resistance in gastric cancer via sponging miR-182-5p

Xiao-xu Huang et al.

Summary: This study examines the mechanism of CDDP resistance in GC, identifying circFN1 as a potential therapeutic target for patients. It was found that circFN1 is upregulated in CDDP-resistant GC cells and tissues, correlates with aggressive biological behavior, and promotes cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis, suggesting its role in CDDP resistance and as a potential therapeutic target.

Characteristics and Early Diagnosis of Gastric Cancer Discovered after Helicobacter pylori Eradication

Masanori Ito et al.

Summary: The prevalence of gastric cancer after eradication (GCAE) is increasing in Japan, with differentiated cancer types frequently found after eradication and having characteristic endoscopic features like reddish depression (RD). Distinguishing benign RD from gastric cancer can be challenging due to histological alterations in surface structures, and submucosal invasive cancer is also frequently found in patients after eradication therapy despite annual endoscopic surveillance. Improved diagnostic ability can be achieved using image-enhanced endoscopy with magnified observation.

Circular RNAs are a novel type of non-coding RNAs in ROS regulation, cardiovascular metabolic inflammations and cancers

Fatma Saaoud et al.

Summary: circRNAs are a novel class of endogenous non-coding RNAs characterized by a covalently closed loop structure generated through back-splicing. They exhibit cell-specific and tissue-specific expression, independent of the expression levels of linear RNAs. CircRNAs regulate biological and pathological processes in various diseases through multiple mechanisms.

RNA in cancer

Gregory J. Goodall et al.

Summary: Recent findings have shown that RNA processing is systematically altered in cancer, with mutations in RNA splicing factor genes and the shortening of 3' untranslated regions widely observed. Additionally, evidence suggests that other types of RNAs, including circular RNAs, can contribute to tumorigenesis.
