Composite grading algorithm for the National Cancer Institute's Patient-Reported Outcomes version of the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (PRO-CTCAE)

Ethan Basch et al.

Summary: A composite grading algorithm has been developed to provide single numerical grades for adverse events assessed via the Patient-Reported Outcomes version of the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events, and can be useful in analyses and reporting. The algorithm was refined through a five-step process and was found to perform well and comparably to individual item scores on validity, reliability, sensitivity, and between-arm delineation.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Transperitoneal versus extraperitoneal laparoscopic aortic lymph nodal staging for locally advanced cervical cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Vito Andrea Capozzi et al.

Summary: Cervical cancer is a common neoplasm in women with international guidelines recommending aortic nodal assessment for locally advanced cases. A comparison of the surgical outcomes between TLL and ELL techniques for staging purposes showed a higher rate of intraoperative complications in the TLL group, while no significant difference was found between the two groups for postoperative complications.

Docking for robotic extraperitoneal para-aortic lymphadenectomy with Da Vinci Xi surgical system

Enrica Bentivegna et al.

Summary: Installation is key in extraperitoneal para-aortic lymphadenectomy when using the Da Vinci Xi robotic system. The benefits of robotic surgery in this indication are comparable to those of the standard laparoscopic approach, requiring precise knowledge of the system.
