Molecular docking studies revealed the interaction between the most active compound and cancer-related proteins.

The synthesized metalophthalocyanines exhibited excellent quenching capacity for Ag+ and Pd2+ ions, as well as promising antioxidant and antibacterial activities.

Additionally, drug properties of the molecules were investigated.

Substituents on the 1- and 2-positions of the benzimidazole core had significant effects on antiproliferation of cancerous cells, with the compounds exhibiting more cytotoxicity in HepG2 compared to MCF-7.

Summary: Novel bisnapthoquinone derivatives were synthesized through a multi-component cascade reaction and applied as potent inhibitors against carbonic anhydrase isoforms and acetylcholinesterase with low nanomolar Ki values. These derivatives also showed inhibitory activity against butyrylcholinesterase and alpha-glycosidase, demonstrating their potential as multi-target-directed ligands in medicinal chemistry. Docking calculations and ADME/T analysis further supported their future medicinal use.
