Structural path and sensitivity analysis of the CO2 emissions in the construction industry

Jindao Chen et al.

Summary: This study examines the structural paths and sensitivity of construction CO2 emissions in China, India, Japan, Russia, and the USA in 2015. It reveals that the construction industry's CO2 emissions in these regions are significantly influenced by domestic electricity, gas and water industry, petroleum, chemical, and non-metallic mineral products industry, construction industry, and transport industry. The study suggests that policymakers should focus on reducing emissions in the producing and domestic electricity industries to effectively mitigate construction CO2 emissions.

Can buildings sector achieve the carbon mitigation ambitious goal: Case study for a low-carbon demonstration city in China?

Jiajia Wang et al.

Summary: China aims to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and become a carbon-neutral society by 2060. The building sector, responsible for over one-third of total carbon emissions, faces a significant challenge in helping China achieve these goals. The study conducted in Shenzhen shows that there is room for improvement in the city's energy conservation and carbon emissions reduction efforts, with the potential to reach peak carbon emissions in the buildings sector by 2025, 5 years earlier than the national target.

The impact of natural resources, energy consumption, and population growth on environmental quality: Fresh evidence from the United States of America

Irfan Khan et al.

Summary: The study finds that there is a negative relationship between natural resources and renewable energy consumption with environmental quality, while non-renewable energy consumption, population growth, and biocapacity have a positive relationship with environmental quality. Additionally, there is a unidirectional causality from population growth to energy consumption, ecological footprint, and CO2 emissions.
