Simultaneous negative reflection and refraction and reverse-incident right-angle collimation of sound in a solid-fluid phononic crystal

Yuqi Jin et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates various metamaterial effects using a square lattice phononic crystal (PnC), including positive and negative refraction and reflection. By shifting the equifrequency contour (EFC) away from the center of the Brillouin zone, an effectively inverted EFC is achieved, leading to multi-refringence phenomena. Additionally, strong right-angle redirection and collimation of the incident acoustic beam are achieved through the coupling of different modes. These effects are validated through numerical simulations and experiments.

High structural insulation composite material development with electromagnetic protection effect reinforced with carbon fibers and particles

Devrim D. Soyaslan

Summary: The composite panels developed in this study successfully provide electromagnetic, thermal, and acoustical insulation functions, achieved by adding carbon materials into the polyurethane matrix. Test results show that these panels have good electromagnetic protection efficiency, low heat transmission coefficient, and sound absorption performance.

Effect of Process Parameters on Fiber Diameter and Fiber Distribution of Melt-Blown Polypropylene Microfibers Produced by Biax Line

Numan Hoda et al.

Summary: This study focused on the effect of critical process conditions of the Biax process on the structure of meltblown webs. It was found that air pressure and melt throughput were the most effective process conditions on the fiber diameter of meltblown polypropylene webs, and fine fiber webs close to one-micron average fiber diameter could be produced under appropriate processing conditions using the Biax process.

Acoustical absorptive properties of meltblown nonwovens for textile machinery

Magdi El Messiry et al.

Summary: Textile industry faces noise exposure problems with sound pressure levels ranging from 95 to 130 dB, with weaving machines having the highest levels. Insulation materials can be used to reduce sound pollution at a low cost. Poly(lactic acid) meltblown nonwovens showed significant sound absorption, with samples having smaller fiber diameters exhibiting the highest damping effect.

Evaluation of Enset Fabric Reinforced Green Composite as Sound Absorber Structure

Alhayat Getu Temesgen et al.

Summary: The study investigated the acoustic properties of enset fiber fabric and its green composite material, with sound absorption performance determined by impedance tube method. Results showed that increasing layers of enset fabric in the composite decreased the sound absorption frequency interval, while a higher ratio of bio resin to enset fabric shifted the sound absorption behavior towards medium frequency regions.
