Reaction-composite diffusion brazing of C-SiC composite and Ni-based superalloy using mixed (Cu-Ti) plus C powder as an interlayer

Wanli Wang et al.

Summary: The novel process utilizing reaction-composite brazing and transient liquid phase bonding successfully achieved low-temperature bonding and high-temperature resistance for joining C-SiC composite and GH4169 superalloy. The joints showed excellent comprehensive properties, with a high melting temperature of 1052 degrees C and maximum shear strengths of 234 MPa at room temperature and 101 MPa at 900 degrees C.

Regulating the interfacial reaction of Sc2W3O12/AgCuTi composite filler by introducing a carbon barrier layer

Pengcheng Wang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel strategy of incorporating a carbon barrier layer between the active filler and Sc2W3O12 materials, which effectively promotes the negative thermal expansion behavior of Sc2W3O12 and enhances the shear strength of brazed joints. The results provide insights for expanding the application of NTE materials in brazing processes and contribute to the development of low-CTE composites.

Ni-Cr Powders Modified with Rhenium as a Novel Coating Material-Physical Properties, Microstructure, and Behavior in Plasma Plume

Adriana Wrona et al.

Summary: The aim of this study is to develop a new coating material based on Ni20Cr alloy modified with a high content of rhenium. The powders were prepared through mechanical mixing and thermoreduction, and characterized in various aspects. The results show that the modified powders have a higher specific surface area and lower flowability, making them suitable for plasma spraying.

Cold Spray of Nickel-Based Alloy Coating on Cast Iron for Restoration and Surface Enhancement

Adrian Wei-Yee Tan et al.

Summary: In this study, the nickel-based alloy Inconel 625 was successfully coated onto grey cast iron using cold spray process, and the diffusion effects between the coating and substrate after heat treatment were studied. The results demonstrated that the coatings had dense and defect-free interfaces and showed stable hardness at high temperatures. The potential application of cold spray on nickel-based alloy coatings for restoration and surface enhancement of grey cast iron components was also highlighted.
