Hydroxyapatite coating promotes stable physicochemical properties of pure magnesium in a longitudinal degradation study

Anna S. Rourke et al.

Summary: Magnesium is an attractive material for orthopedic implants due to its similar mechanical properties to bone, but it degrades too quickly. Coatings like hydroxyapatite (HA) can be used to modulate degradation and enhance osseointegration and biocompatibility. This study longitudinally evaluated the effects of solution-deposited HA coatings on magnesium degradation and found that the HA coating remained stable and reduced the degradation of magnesium.

Anodized Biomedical Stainless-Steel Mini-Implant for Rapid Recovery in a Rabbit Model

Yung-Chieh Cho et al.

Summary: The study showed that the anodized 316L BSS mini-implant had superior microstructural features and good biocompatibility, which improved bone recovery after implantation in rabbits. This suggests that the anodized 316L BSS mini-implant could be a potential choice for effective and efficient orthodontic treatment.
