Effect of Thermal Oxidation Pretreatment on the Magnetization Roasting and Separation of Refractory Iron Ore

Qiang Zhang et al.

Summary: The effect of thermal oxidization pretreatment on the magnetization roasting and separation of refractory iron ore was studied. The results showed that the pretreatment could decrease the required CO concentration and increase the iron recovery. This is attributed to the presence of pores and cracks in the pretreated samples, which promoted the conversion of iron ore during the magnetization roasting process.

Compressibility and Phase Stability of Iron-Rich Ankerite

Raquel Chulia-Jordan et al.

Summary: A joint experimental and computational study was conducted on the structure of naturally occurring iron-rich mineral ankerite. Results showed that the rhombohedral ankerite structure is stable under compression up to 12 GPa, but undergoes a reversible phase transition at 12 GPa possibly due to non-hydrostatic conditions. DFT calculations suggested a novel high-pressure polymorph with Fe and Ca atoms in different coordinations and carbonate groups remaining in a trigonal planar configuration, which could be a candidate structure for dense carbonates in other compositional systems.

Effect of Preformed Calcium Ferrite Addition on Sintering Behavior of Vanadium Titanium Magnetite Ore

Gang Li et al.

Summary: A new approach to improve the strength of vanadium titanium magnetite sinter is proposed by adding preformed calcium ferrite to partially substitute CaO. Factors like sintering temperature, oxygen partial pressure, heating time, and substitution ratio of preformed CF are examined for their effects on the mineralogy of VTM sinter. The addition of preformed CF not only inhibits perovskite generation and promotes the formation of calcium ferrites, but also increases the quantity of melts and promotes solid-liquid assimilation.
