Horizontally aligned lamellar porous graphene/nickel composite for high volumetric capacity lithium-sulfur batteries

Yixiang Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a horizontally aligned lamellar porous graphene/nickel composite was synthesized as a sulfur host material for lithium-sulfur batteries. The nickel decoration on the graphene surface acted as active sites, effectively adsorbing and catalytically converting polysulfides, improving the redox kinetics and reducing shuttle effect. The abundant pores on the graphene served as a shortcut for lithium-ion diffusion, accelerating ion transport through the electrode.

Xiangcheng Xu et al.

Summary: Zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors (ZHCs) based on multivalent ion storage principle are considered promising for large-scale energy storage. To meet demands for portable and miniaturized devices, a compact three-dimensional porous graphene cathode was designed to balance porous structure and high density, achieving high volumetric energy density with no sacrifice of power density. The ZHC with this cathode demonstrated excellent volumetric performance, long cycle stability, and extremely high volumetric energy density.

Effects of graphene thickness and length distribution on the mechanical properties of graphene networks: A coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulation

Qiang Bao et al.

Summary: The thickness of graphene layers plays a crucial role in the mechanical properties of 3D graphene networks. Monolayer graphene exhibits high strength and modulus under both tensile and compressive loading. Networks with Gaussian length distribution tend to have higher compressive properties due to their higher density.
