Projected changes in temperature and precipitation over mainland Southeast Asia by CMIP6 models

S. Supharatid et al.

Summary: The latest study predicts significant warming and increased rainfall in mainland SEA countries under climate change. Mitigation and adaptation strategies can potentially slow down warming trends and decrease precipitation after 2050, highlighting the need for appropriate adaptation measures in response to changing climate in the region.

Precipitation of Mainland India: Copula-based bias-corrected daily CORDEX climate data for both mean and extreme values

Mayank Suman et al.

Summary: Changes in mean and extreme precipitation characteristics with changing climate may increase hydrological extremes frequency. General Circulation Model (GCM)/Regional Climate Model (RCM) simulated precipitation are used to study these impacts, but bias correction is necessary before using them in hydrological simulations. The stochastic copula-based bias-correction method (RMPH method) is applied across India to correct the bias in any quantile of daily precipitation, including zero values, and the bias-corrected precipitation dataset developed can be beneficial for hydrological simulations and climate change adaptation strategies.

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of CMIP6 models in simulating the seasonal evolution and extreme precipitation indices in the WNP-EA region, finding improvements in seasonal evolution but limited improvement in extreme indices during spring and fall.

Biases Beyond the Mean in CMIP6 Extreme Precipitation: A Global Investigation

Hebatallah Mohamed Abdelmoaty et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of CMIP6 models in reproducing the statistical properties of observed annual maxima of daily precipitation using various methods. The results indicate good matching in terms of frequency and magnitude of extremes, but biases exist in terms of mean and variation, with some models performing well.

Comparison of CMIP5 and CMIP6 Multi-Model Ensemble for Precipitation Downscaling Results and Observational Data: The Case of Hanjiang River Basin

Dong Wang et al.

Summary: The study evaluated and compared the accuracy of downscaled precipitation simulations of CMIP5-MME and CMIP6-MME for the Hanjiang River Basin in China. The results showed that the downscaled precipitation captured spatial and temporal patterns well, but there were slight overestimations and underestimations in certain regions. The downscaled CMIP6-MME performed better than CMIP5-MME in simulating precipitation, especially in reducing biases, except for summer seasons.

Comparative Assessment and Future Prediction Using CMIP6 and CMIP5 for Annual Precipitation and Extreme Precipitation Simulation

Jingjing Li et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the improvement of CMIP6 over CMIP5 in precipitation simulation, finding no overall advantage but regional differences. CMIP6 shows more significant trends compared to CMIP5 in the future, with varying changing rates in different regions. In many areas, the changing rate of CDD in CMIP6 is less than that of CMIP5 under all scenarios.
