Exploring the Potential Toxicological Mechanisms of Vine Tea on the Liver Based on Network Toxicology and Transcriptomics

Fangyu Xiao et al.

Summary: This study identified potential toxic components in vine tea and explored their effects on liver toxicity. The findings suggest that these components, mainly flavonoids, may induce oxidative stress, promote apoptosis, and affect cell metabolism. However, the hepatotoxicity of vine tea is dose-dependent, duration-dependent, and subject to individual differences.

The treatment of menopausal symptoms by traditional Chinese medicine in Asian countries

Y-P Wang et al.

Summary: Menopausal symptoms refer to a series of symptoms that occur during the perimenopausal and early postmenopausal period, with about 80% of women needing treatment. Asian women prefer traditional Chinese medicine for treating menopausal symptoms, with lower side effects compared to hormone therapy.

Lipid Lowering Drugs: Present Status and Future Developments

Massimiliano Ruscica et al.

Summary: In addition to statins, other non-statin lipid lowering approaches are needed to reduce cardiovascular burden in patients at highest risk. Recent findings show promising benefits with drugs like bempedoic acid, inclisiran, and icosapent ethyl for managing hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. RNA-based therapies also offer new options for reducing lipoprotein(a) and triglyceride levels.

Estradiol treatment or modest exercise improves hepatic health and mitochondrial outcomes in female mice following ovariectomy

Kelly N. Z. Fuller et al.

Summary: Compared with males, female mice have increased hepatic mitochondrial respiratory capacity and are protected against high-fat diet-induced steatosis. Removal of estrogen impairs hepatic mitochondrial function and liver health, and estradiol replacement and modest exercise can aid in rescuing this phenotype. OVX induces hepatic steatosis in sedentary mice, which can be prevented by modest physical activity (VWR) and/or estradiol treatment.

Dyslipidemia influences the effect of physical exercise on inflammatory markers on obese women in post-menopause: A randomized clinical trial

Piero Biteli et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that physical exercise in obese post-menopausal women can significantly reduce IL-6 levels and increase IL-10/IL-6 and IL-10/TNF-alpha ratios. Furthermore, both exercise and exercise with dyslipidemia groups showed significant reductions in TNF-alpha values. However, there were no significant changes in IL-10 levels in the exercise groups.

β-Carotene attenuates LPS-induced rat intestinal inflammation via modulating autophagy and regulating the JAK2/STAT3 and JNK/p38 MAPK signaling pathways

Yu Yang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that beta-carotene can alleviate rat intestinal inflammation by modulating autophagy and regulating JAK2/STAT3 and JNK/p38 MAPK signaling pathways. This effect was verified in intestinal epithelial cell (IEC)-6, providing new insights into improving nutritional value of basic diets and enhancing immune performance. Beta-carotene shows anti-inflammatory potential and can be beneficial against LPS-induced inflammation damage, laying foundation for related research in vitro and in rat models.
