A graph auto-encoder model for miRNA-disease associations prediction

Zhengwei Li et al.

Summary: The abnormal expression of miRNAs is associated with the evolution and progression of various human complex diseases. Identifying disease-related miRNAs as new biomarkers can promote the development of disease pathology and clinical medicine. Designing biological experiments to validate disease-related miRNAs is usually time-consuming and expensive, highlighting the need for effective computational methods to predict potential miRNA-disease associations.

A comprehensive survey on computational methods of non-coding RNA and disease association prediction

Xiujuan Lei et al.

Summary: The study systematically introduces three common non-coding RNAs, namely miRNAs, lncRNAs, and circRNAs, as well as the computational methods for predicting their association with diseases. These methods include database introduction, RNA and disease similarity calculations, and classification of ncRNA-disease prediction methods into five types. Computational methods can be used to predict and study the relationships between these non-coding RNAs and diseases.

MiR-429 prohibited NF-κB signalling to alleviate contrast-induced acute kidney injury via targeting PDCD4

Hui-Min Niu et al.

Summary: MiR-429 is downregulated while PDCD4 is upregulated in contrast-induced acute kidney injury. Overexpression of miR-429 promotes cell viability and inhibits apoptosis, with direct targeting of PDCD4 and negative regulation of NF-kappa B signaling.

BiGAN: LncRNA-disease association prediction based on bidirectional generative adversarial network

Qiang Yang et al.

Summary: This study proposed a computational model named BiGAN for predicting lncRNA-disease associations. By utilizing disease semantic similarity, lncRNA sequence similarity, and Gaussian interaction profile kernel similarities, features were constructed to predict unverified associations, showing significantly better performance than other methods.

SCMFMDA: Predicting microRNA-disease associations based on similarity constrained matrix factorization

Lei Li et al.

Summary: miRNAs are closely related to many human diseases, and predicting potential associations between miRNAs and diseases is important for disease diagnosis and treatment. SCMFMDA, which fuses multi-source disease and miRNA information using similarity network fusion and utilizes similarity constrained matrix factorization for prediction, achieves more accurate prediction results. Evaluated through global Leave-one-out cross validation and five-fold cross validation, SCMFMDA achieves higher AUCs compared to previous computational models. Case studies on significant human diseases confirm the effectiveness of SCMFMDA in discovering unverified connections between miRNAs and diseases.
